Unlocking Baby’s Potential with Sidelying Play!
Is your baby comfortable in the cradle? That’s because it’s how we hold them most of the time! However, sidelying offers unique benefits that cradle holding does not. In this video, I’ll explain why sidelying requires alignment and stretch, and why it’s a beneficial practice to start early on.
Sidelying might be new for your little one, but don’t worry—I encourage parents to practice it outside of feeding times. If you start with sidelying from birth, you’ll notice decreased stress in your baby’s body when put into this position. But for those starting later, remember: it takes time, patience, and practice. Your baby is learning to move and coordinate in a new way, and that’s a big step!
Plus, sidelying play is extremely beneficial for overall motor development and body awareness, even outside of feeding times.
