Baby Development – Teaching Social Skills
Watch as Parents Magazine gives you tips on teaching social skills to your baby! If you’re friendly to those around you, your baby will watch and learn from that. Play dates are a great way to teach social skills to your baby. Stick with small groups at first because larger groups might overwhelm your baby. Once your baby gets more comfortable socializing, you can join a mom and baby group. At play dates, engage your baby’s friends. If your child shows resistance to social situations, nudge him and stick by him. If your baby is shy, don’t push him because he might become more withdrawn. Comfort him and try again later. Keep these tips in mind when teaching social skills to your child!
