How to manage back pain during early pregnancy?
Back pain in the first trimester of pregnancy can be anything from weight gain, obesity, postural changes, no exercise or uterine contractions which are happening in a normal pregnancy or it can be a part of an abnormal pregnancy. So rule out any abnormal pregnancy. If not, correct the posture of the patient, and counsel the patient that there are several ways of bringing it down, the first is to sleep on the sides. Avoid sleeping on the back when there is back pain. Otherwise, there are no issues. Also use pain killer gels available in the market. Use hot water bags on the back, not continuously, put hot water bags between the chair and the back. Give some support and it relieves back pain. Then walk, exercise, swimming, brings down the back pain to an extent. Treatment is not required unless there is another abnormality which has to be ruled out.
