My Perfect Family: Georgia

Mum Georgia remembers Ollie Gumbley as an advanced baby, speaking with a vocabulary of at least 40 words by 15 months. But without warning, Ollie began to withdraw. Each day he talked less and less, until he stopped altogether. Ollie was diagnosed with severe Autism, and Georgia’s parenting journey was suddenly different to that which she’d imagined. Georgia became a full-time carer and facilitator for Ollie’s intensive therapies and interventions. Now five years old and about to start school, she has her hopes pinned on him being accepted into the special school that Georgia believes will give him the best quality of life.
